…why the curtained window?

16 May

We have three windows in our family room…but we have blinds on each of those windows.

I suppose we had the windows installed so we could see out. But we then installed the blinds so others couldn’t see in.

I suppose there are windows to my soul…windows that allow me to see out. But there are also curtains to those windows; curtains that prevent others from seeing in.

Sometimes I keep those curtains tightly closed, sometimes they are slightly cracked, and sometimes they are open wide. I have control over my soul’s curtains. I can close the curtains so tightly that I completely ignore the world around me…but in so doing, I suffer the pain of being alone.

Today, I think I’ll open those curtains a little wider…let myself see more of the world…and let the world see a little more of me. And tomorrow? Maybe a little wider still.

For the more I see of the world, the more the world sees of me.
